"Building Yonkers By Building Business Relationships"

New hospital CEO named

by John Golden
August 27- 2010

Ronald J. Corti, a long-time hospital executive in Westchester, has been named to succeed James Foy as president and CEO of St. John’s Riverside Hospital and Riverside Health Care System Inc. in Yonkers.

His appointment is effective Oct. 1, following Foy’s Sept. 30 retirement after 17 years as hospital chief. Corti was chosen at an Aug. 24 meeting of the Riverside Health Care System board and recommended by the St. John’s Riverside Hospital board after a comprehensive national search.

“My No. 1 priority is to ensure the city of Yonkers and the rivertowns receive the very best health care in Westchester,” Corti said in a prepared statement. “And I am dedicated to enhancing quality, improving the overall service experience and strengthening the care provided by our emergency departments.”

A 1981 graduate of Fordham University, Corti has spent 22 years at the Yonkers hospital, where he has been executive vice president since 2008. He was president and CEO of Community Hospital at Dobbs Ferry after its 2002 merger with St. John’s Riverside. That facility is now the Dobbs Ferry Pavilion in the Riverside health care system.

“I am looking forward to working together with the many talented individuals associated with our hospital and our community,” he said.

Corti, 51, lives in Fairfield County, Conn., with his wife, Lorraine, and their children, Jennifer and Michael.

Foy, 59, said he plans to do consulting in health care and financial investment after retiring from the hospital. Foy is only the third CEO to serve at St. John’s since World War II.

“I told my board several years ago that I thought it was time for both me and the hospital to move on,” he said. Foy earlier this year said he would leave his post no later than June 2011.
